PRESCHOOL DANCE

Preschool Dance is the beginning of a lifetime of dance appreciation. It is the essence of using imagination and exploration as building blocks for a dance foundation. Students focus on gross motor skills – skipping, hopping and jumping – through musicality and movement. City Ballet pays special attention to the needs and abilities of preschoolers by using theme-based lesson plans full of meaningful play. To encourage performance techniques, the preschool classes hold a recital complete with costumes at the studio for parents and friends. The casual setting rewards dancers for their hard work all year without the stresses of a “big” stage and rehearsals.

Children dance and stretch with an appreciation of moving with music. Ballet exercises are introduced along with other techniques. Emphasis on good posture, rhythm, and creative work lead to an informal studio recital at the end of each session.
