Summer 2012
Join us at City Ballet this summer from May 21-August 17!

Summer dance workshops are the most important resource a young dancer has when they want to see strong improvement in a relatively short time. A one-week full-day camp can be as beneficial as three months of evening classes in the regular year. We at City Ballet are extremely excited about our programs for this summer! New for 2012, we will be offering half- and full-day workshops to dancers of all levels, with familiar faces and special guest teachers.

June 11-15, June 18-25, July 30-Aug 3, Aug 6-10, Aug 13-17
For those dancers who are in their first years of ballet classes, our Youth camps will run in the afternoons from 1:30-4:30pm. Each day will include ballet and at least one other technique, and each week will incorporate dance history, strengthening, and creative work.
INTERMEDIATE (ages 11+) & ADVANCED (ages 13+) WORKSHOPS
June 11-15, June 18-25, July 30-Aug 3, Aug 6-10, Aug 13-17
For our intermediate and advanced dancers, we will have five weeks of intensives. In the mornings there will be ballet classes taught by City Ballet faculty and a wide variety of guests, such as City Ballet favorite Tom Vacanti, dancers from the Carolina Ballet, and others. In the afternoons, there will be a different theme each week, such as “Condition Yourself”, “Romantic Traditions”, “Get Fierce”, and “Composition and Choreography”. Each day will include at least one non-ballet technique (modern, jazz, hip-hop, break dancing), lecture and dance history, and strengthening classes. Students may enroll for the mornings, afternoon, or both!
Continuing Classes
City Ballet will also offer Continuing Classes throughout the summer, with three Class Card options tailored for a variety of summer schedules! For those dancers who want to take classes for most of the summer, we have a 12-week Unlimited Card, which will allow students to take as many level-appropriate evening classes as desired. This is a great opportunity to try out some new things! Students who will be off on vacations throughout the summer can take advantage of individual Weekly Unlimited Cards to take as many level-appropriate classes for the weeks they are around. For those who want less than three hours of class, we offer 5-hour Cards to keep track of the time spent in classes.
