Dress Requirements
Proper attire is required for all youth dance classes as follows:
Girls Ballet
- Pink tights
- Pink ballet shoes – split sole preferred. Primary students should follow their teacher’s guidance on fit and maintenance.
- Designated leotards for class level as indicated below

Boys Ballet
- White T-shirt, black tights or shorts, and black ballet shoes
All Ballet Classes
- No shorts over leotards.
- No bulky cover-ups, as they hinder movements and the teacher’s ability to see proper placement and alignment. Skirts are acceptable for most classes.
- Hair must be secured and pulled off shoulders for all ballet classes. This is necessary for the teacher to evaluate placement of shoulders, head and neck.
Character
- Any solid color leotard and tights.
- No bulky cover-ups or jeans as they hinder movementes and the teacher’s ability to see proper placement.
- Full circle skirts hemmed just below the knee are required. Any color is acceptable.
- Shoes – Black, 2″ heel character shoes.
Jazz
- Any solid color leotard and tights.
- No bulky cover-ups or jeans as they hinder movementes and the teacher’s ability to see proper placement.
- Jazz pants and jazz tops are acceptable.
- Shoes – Tan Super Jazz by Bloch
Tap
- Dance attire required.
- No bulky cover-ups or jeans as they hinder movementes and the teacher’s ability to see proper placement.
- Shoes – Black tap shoes, flat, no heels. Bloch S0302G Mary Jane style with no ties, or Capezio CG06 style recommended.
Hip-Hop

Form-fitted dance attire that allows for a good deal of freedom of movement. Examples include jazz-style pants, sweatpants, tank tops, fitted T’s and sneakers.
- No baggie clothes or denim jeans.
- Shoes – Black dance style (Capezio or Bloch) hip-hop sneakers will be required for performances.
